6 Important Things Related to Universal Account Number (UAN) for EPF
The Universal Account Number (UAN) will act as a unification of multiple member IDs allotted to an individual by different establishments.
This means that when a person changes his EPF number when he changes companies, the UAN will add the member IDs of all those previous companies.
The main purpose of UAN is to link multiple Member Identification Numbers (Member IDs) allotted to the same member under a single Universal Account Number.
If a member has already been allotted a Universal Account Number (UAN), then the person has to give the same UAN to the employer on joining the new organization so that it can mark the newly allotted Member Identification Number (Member ID).
1) How Do I Get a UAN?
UAN is provided by your employer. Your UAN is readily available with the employer. If you have not received the UAN, you can inquire with the Human Resource Department.
2) How Do I Access the Portal?
Members just need to visit the UAN-based member portal website, i.e., http://uanmembers.epfoservices.in. Initially, the member has to activate his or her UAN by selecting the link ‘Activate your UAN’ provided on the member portal.

The member will be able to check their eligibility for an online transfer claim using their previous member ID by going to the List of previous membership ID’ and ‘View Status’ options in the Previous Membership ID’ option of the menu.
In the future, it will be added automatically based on the Form-11 information, and there will be no need to list the member ID.
